Have a Great School Year

Yep, it's that time of year again. Summer is over and we're sending our precious babies back to school. If you're like me, this brings on mixed emotions lol:) Even in the pre-pandemic world, sending your kids to school was stressful. Now, adding in all of these extra factors and protocols, it can really feel overwhelming. There are some things we can't control, but there are a few things we can do to make this school year great. I've talked to some of my favorite teachers and gotten a few tips to share with you.
1. Be patient with your child. They are learning new routines, procedures and teachers. Many students haven't been inside a school building in over a year. This is bound to an anxious time for them, so give them a little grace in getting adapted.
2. Have good communication with their teachers. Teachers and parents have the same goal; seeing the child successfully complete the grade level. In order to reach this common goal, you have to work together. Talk to your child's teace ...

Is It a Good Time to Purchase a Home?

The real estate market has been crazy bananas, to say the least, for the last year! Inventory is at record lows in most markets and the pace of sales is unbelievable. We have all heard horror stories about people being outbid by thousands of dollars and searching unsuccessfully for months. So, why would anyone want to try to jump in this race right now? There are actually some good reasons. And the truth is, right now is a great time for some people to purchase a home, but not everyone.
Two reasons now is a good time to buy.
First, interests rates are really low. If you have ever owned a home and taken a look at your mortgage statement, you were probably shocked. I know I was in disbelief the first time I realized how little of my monthly payment went towards the principal amount of my loan versus the interest. These lower interest rates equate to lower monthly payments and less overall cost of the loan.
Second, home values have greatly increased. This means you have the opportunity; ...

Is It Time To Downsize?

In August 2/3 of my children will be away in college. I have to tell you, this house is starting to feel a little empty and a lot bigger. I can barely imagine four years from now, when it’s just going to be me and the husband. Naturally, we’ve started discussing our plans for the future and this house. This is also a conversation I’ve had with several clients and know it’s not an easy decision. Let’s dive into it.

Throughout my childhood, my grandparents hosted Sunday dinner after church. So at least once a week some of their kids, grandkids and various other relatives would all be in their home. This was the same home my mother grew up in. The same home that is covered in multigenerational photos and where you can still get the best sweet potato pie! This is what I always wanted my home to be. A place where my kids and grandkids would think of as home. Where family and friends know they are welcome and that we always have room for them. So my first inse ...

Getting Creative With Small Spaces

Like millions of others, I am obsessed with tiny houses. Not to live in, but to watch others live in. Honestly, I do love the idea of a tiny home, but I also love space. So although tiny living isn't for me, I am simply amazed by some of the uses of space I have seen in them. And the best part is that a lot of the ideas can actually be used in any size house. I have compiled a few of my favorites..Enjoy!

Create the illusion of more space. There are a few things you can do that don't actually change the footprint of your space or give you any extra. What they do is just change the feel and play tricks on your eyes. For instance, strategically place mirrors and use reflective materials. Decorate with lighter colors. You can also add floor to ceiling drapes. This dramatic look makes the room feel larger.
